Default no heat adjustment

The other day I tried adjusting the temperature on the heat in my 89. It was set at 70 and I tried to increase the number, but it would not advance. I hit the cool button and the numbers went down to 60, then it would not go up when I pushed the hot buttom. I turned the unit off and even tried auto. Nothing seemed to work. I even turned the engine off and thought the unit would reset. This didn't work either. Would could possibly be the problem.

Thanks

Other than power, ground and the dimming circuit, there is nothing external to the Panel that effects the Display. If you push a Button and nothing changes - it's the Panel. Some take them apart and clean the contacts. Otherwise, you usually need to replace it with a rebuild. You could try removing power from it altogether and see if that has any effect. Memory power is from the Courtesy Fuse - or just disconnect and reconnect the battery. Once you do so, there will be a brief delay as the temp door is cycled fully open and then fully closed and while that's happening, nothing - including the Blower - is going to work. Also, the default setting is usually somewhere around 72. It might well display that once you power it back up, but I've got a feeling that once you start pushing buttons, it will start acting up again.

Thanks for the reply. I'll disconnect the battery and see if it resets and works. After posting I remembered that I tried to use the rear defrost on the hatch and smelled something hot. It smelled like an electrical heater that was off all summer and then started and you smell the dust on the wires. Could this have something to do with why my heat went out?
