Sorry about making a second thread on a starting problem but was curious as to if anyone knows whats gone bad when the car just makes a click when you try to crank. It used to just crank for a while then start. If you have the key trying to start you can hear the click and you can move the clutch back and forth and eventually it will engage the car at a certain point. Thanks in advance for any help I may recieve!
Did you check the connections on your battery? Check connections to the starter? Test the starter itself? Just a couple of suggestions
if you have a low volt condition on cranking --should never be lower than 9.5 volds -- this can cause the solenoid to enguage but when it trys to crank there isnt enuf powa , the first thing you should do is grab a mutimeter and have a friend crank the motor and you put the leads on the battery terminals or just listen and if the motor cranks xcent when it does thats a good sign if it cranks slow check voltage

Correct. The first thing I would check is the battery. Make sure the connections are clean and tight. Measure it with a voltmeter and see how many volts it reads. If it reads around 12-13v then the battery is good and move on to the starter connections. Make sure they are clean and tight as well. Once the clicking noise is gone and the engine tries to turn over, we'll troubleshoot the extended cranking time.Originally Posted by qws

If you make that voltage measurement as suggested and it stays around 12 volts, then there is a high probability the starter is bad. Those are real classic symptoms for a bad starter.
