Hi, my son wants me to fix his 86, The a/c blower motor is staying on even after the ignition is turned off. It looks like the "blower control module" is bad. I know it's located under the dash, but does anybody know how to access it? Many thanks, Chip
I replaced my blower control module when I first got this car back in November thinking it was bad and it turned out it was my programmer that's shot. My bcm was under the hood in the evaporator housing. Not sure about the '86. To look under the dash or to remove the instrument panel you'll need a allen wrench and a socket set to get the hush panel out. Do a search here and you'll find a lot of info. with the A/C system.
Hopefully it is the Module. Otherwise, the Control Panel monitors actual blower voltage just to be sure the blower is turning at the speed it thinks it should. That circuit is protected by a 5 amp fuse, which if it opens, will keep the blower spinning on high, even with the ignition off. If your new Module doesn't fix it, look on the right side of the firewall for a 1x1 box with a couple of wires in it (one will be the same color as the hot lead at the blower). Remove it and inside you will find the 5 amp fuse. Replace it if it's opened and all should be ok.
Hi, I have just the same problem. Blower stays on with ignition off. I ckecked the 5 Amp fuse and its OK. Seems like I need to search a BCM somewhere.
Jus to make sure: did I pull the right thing?

Apart from missing AC, is there a problem driving without the module?
Thanks for Help and greetings from Overseas
