Default auto vs manual driveshaft

Are the driveshafts for manual and automatic transmissions the same? Can I use the yokes off of a manual driveshaft on an driveshaft out of an auto tranny C4? I have an 1988 C4
Thanks!

Beppe is correct in that the manual drive shaft is shorter, on all but the 1984, by about an inch. They do, often, interchange with one another; especially an automatic in for a manual. All C4s use the same u joints, therefore the slip yokes may be swapped at will. I believe that the 4+3 manual and the 700R4 automatic take the same slip yoke and that only the ZF6 has a unique slip yoke.

The C4 never used a TH350, but I think the 700R4 and the 4+3 both use the same 27 spline output shaft that the 350 uses. If not, the C4 drive shaft takes a 1310 Spicer joint. At the worst a TH350 slip yoke for a 1310 joint is all you would need for compatibility. You are on your own for length. Some conversions use an adapter to install the 700R4 tail shaft housing on the TH350 to accept the "C" beam. If you can make the length right for the "C" beam. I'll bet the auto drive shaft will fit...with a corresponding auto rear diff.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
27 splines is for pre-84, and for 84-later the splines are 30...right?

Email me , have some pics of a T400 swap ; similar principle

If DIY all you have to to do is fabricate a mount for the C beam;
Corvette T700 is shown as 29 7/8" long
TH350 with 9" tailshaft housing as 30 5/8"
A TH350 with the short (6") housing is 27 5/8" so a longer driveshaft would be required
Late powerglide / TH350 / T700 / 4+3 all have the same fine spline output shaft.
Uni sizes vary according to application.

I think you are getting confused with the input shaft splines.

So, the 30 splines or 27 splines (depending on years of the 700R4) is referred to the INPUT shaft (between engine and transmission....) and all 700R4 have 27 splines in the slip joke/OUTPUT shaft...
I correclty understand?
Thanks and sorry to hijack the thread...
