Default Antenna bypass switch install help on an 86

Anyone install one of these switches to keep your antenna down when listening to a CD? I have followed the instructions and removed the right lower instrument panel. Now it says to "locate the rear body harness wire's white connector - it has a pink wire coming from the radio."

There are just too damn many wires back there for me to be finding and cutting the right one. I do see a pink wire but I don't see the white connector. Is there a pink wire going into the back of the radio? If so can I cut that one instead of the one under the instrument panel?

Thanks

One of the 5 connectors that plugs into the back of your radio has a pink wire along with 3 other wires. That pink wire goes to the power antenna relay at the back of the car. There is also a single pink wire that plugs into the back of the radio, this is the 12v power wire for the remote speaker amplifiers.

Here's a pic of the connector C209. It's behind the RH side of the instrument panel below the fuse block. I pulled the harness I have from an '86 and took this pic. I pulled the pink/white wire out (blk connector) to highlight it. On the other connector (white) the pink/white wire connects an orange wire which goes to the antenna relay. I pulled that out too so you can see it. jfb (previous post) is correct also. That same wire he mentions is in the attached pic. It's the brighter of the two pink wires that are next to the pink/white wire. Hope this helps.

I like keeping it simple. All you need is an On/OFF switch from Radio Shack installed inline with the Pink wire on the car's harness for the stereo. That will cut off the power supply to the antenna relay to keep it down, as that PINK wire is the main ON/OFF lead. Mount the button wherever you want. That's it.

I also installed a greed LED (optional) light in the same wire to let me know when the antenna is up or down without having to look in the rear view mirrow.

Thanks very much for the help. I think I figured out which wire to solder the switch into however everything is really tight there under the passenger kick panel. I'm just going to cut into it where it plugs into the back of the radio.

I tapped mine in just behind the radio. I put the switch in the lower panel near the ALCL connector. Out of sight and easy to access. I have used the switch twice in 3 years
