Rear wheel vibration problem...
Yesterday on my way into work, on the entrance ramp to the highway, I heard something metal hit something else metal under my car. I coasted for a minute, didn't hear anything or feel anything abnormal.
On my home from work, I noticed a real bad vibration in the car thats coming from the rear passenger wheel.
Today, When I first start the car, take off, then stop at the first stop sign/light, the abs go crazy right before I come to a complete stop. The car stops fine, but abs gets really mad and engages for 5 - 10 seconds. After that my Service ABS and Service ASR lights come on and stay on until I turn the car off.
A friend watched my drive in a parking lot, and said that wheel has alot of play in it. The vibrations are really bad, and it seems to have gotten worse since last night.
So far I haven't been able to find a place to take it to, I'm trying to avoid the local stealership and find somewhere that has experience with c4's, but I'm not having any luck right now.
Any ideas what it could be?
But that should not impact your ABS... It is possible that you hit something that damaged a wheel and in the process hit the connector to the ABS sensor....
There was nothing on the road for me to have hit, especially nothing of that size/weight to cause the kind of wheel damage neccesary for the vibration.
I'm thinking its either a u-joint, wheel bearing or a I lost a bolt.
The vibration is bad, the wheel is deffently moving in a way it shouldn't, and it sure is noisy.
Jack up the wheel in question and see how much it moves around. Could be something in the wheel bearing let go and damaged the ABS sensor.
Let us know what happens.
Edit: The mechanic just called, said it was my wheel hub, and also a tie rod had alot of play in it. He said the other side isn't looking good, hasn't long for this world, but its not as bad.
