Default 84 Crossfire 350

Hi I am planning on turbocharging a 1984 350 Crossfire vette, first off I want to change it over to a TPI I am looking for info on what I will need to do and where to find the parts, Where to buy the harness and computer with all the sensors ill need. My main problem is what will I need to do to close the hood, will I need a TPI vette hood will their be any clearance issues. Any info would be great guys. THANKS

Pete

first off...why?

no on the hood

several places for the ecm & such depending on what you wanna pay (or how badly you want reamed)

it's the same for a 305 & 350 so don't get picky...all that's different is injectors & chip

i say keep it crossfire...for the average person it's all you need...now im not average...so i went another route...more cubic inches

yes, you CAN turbo it...see JoBy's site...he vorteched a CFI 84 vette with excellent results! (tossed stock trans in 20 miles). all that is required is an enclosure similar to a carb box. this of course you'd have to fab but since you'd have to fab some or all of the turbo piping yourself anyways this should not be a problem for you.

A change to a TPI is a step in the wrong direction, or sideways, at best. The TPI doesn't breathe any better than the Crossfire, and the Crossfire can be easily modified to breathe better than a modified TPI. For the time and expense, you will be sadly disappointed. I agree with you on the carb. It is a shame to step backward in time and technology. If you need better breathing than you can get with a ported Crossfire, there are much better EFI alternatives than the TPI.

RACE ON!!!

Here's a place that will sell you the complete harness, ECM and chip or they will rework your current harness. They will also send you a free catalog. www.howell-efi.com
