Hi,
I have a 88 model. I have the AC fan speed at max speed setting (shows as 10 on the display). However, the air flow coming out of the vents is not that fast.I can't feel the air on my face in a normal driving position, however I can feel the air when I put my hands close to the vents.
I live in Bahrain, and the temperature is around 50c+ during the day. The car doesn't stand under a shaded area, so gets *really* toasty inside.
The air coming out of the vents is cold. Is the AC fan supposed to be this slow? My 2000 Maximia pumps out cold air like there's a gale force 10 in the unit!
Thanks.
Al.
There isn't a Relay if you have the C68 Option or electronic air. Blower speed is determined by the Control Assembly (Dash Unit) and an amplifier (Blower Control Module) mounted in the Evaporator Housing. With Electronic Air, there are actually two speeds for High Blower and both will indicate "10" on the Control Panel. To reach the maximum, the control setting has to be at 60 degrees (F). To see if you are reaching it, disconnect the blower motor and jump battery voltage to it (you are going to have provide a ground also). Is the blower now running faster? If so, any number of things could be bad: The amplifier (Blower Control Module), The Control Assembly (Dash Unit), or the In Car Temperature Sensor could have shifted out of range. Try jumping voltage to the blower motor first and see what that does.
If 'electronic air' refers to an automatic AC i.e one where you set the temperature you want and the unit takes care of it - then that's what I have.
I'm failly sure the external temperature sensor is not working, because when I press the Ext. Temp button, I always get -38. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this problem.
Thanks for the detailed and logical reply - rather than risk blowing my car up by connecting wires to places I don't know about - I'll take it to a mechanic.
Regards,
Al.
