Hi all,

I was researching sperchargers and founf you site and it seem very good and I would like to your guys thoughts.I have an 89 with L98 and auto tranny. The motor and tranny are tired so its time for a rebuild.I am thinking about a spercharger and what to know so info.I see some of you guys have them and would like to know if I need build the engine stronger or can I go back stock? Do you know where to get an engine rebuild kit? What happens to the mass airflow? can I run stock injectors? What kind of chip do i need?Do I need bigger throttle body?can i run stock intake runners?Does it put alot of strain on you motor?Do you uses yours for daily drivers?Any any do and don't you guys have encountered?

The kits i have seen are all around 4,500$ thats more than i want to spend since i have to get a motor and tranny too.Is there a cheaper way.I dont want to go crazy so only 6lbs of boots is fne with me.Any info you can give me would be appericated?

Thanks

Here's a link to my post here:

The degree of your engine rebuild will depend on the level of performance desired. My kit will push 9-10 psi, and I'm not concerned about the bottom end at this point.

Sometimes you can find some deals on kits. I got mine for a descent price. And, if you wanna go with an older style blower, you can pick one up at a serious discount.

Detonation and too high revs will kill the bottom end, not 10psi boost.

I have an ATI kit available for an '87, which in all likelihood will bolt right up to your '89. If you do not go nuts on the boost (6-8 psi) and tune properly, the engine will last fine in stock form.

Please complete your profile information (i.e. where are you located).
