1988 corvette

I have a 1988 corvette when i go to take off at about 4 to 7 mph i hear like a hydraulic sound not sure what that is. if i tap on the brakes i will hear it, any info on this please let me know

does this happen all the time? Or just after start up?

The ABS pump is in the bin right behind you, at startup, it cycles as a test... that's normal.

Is this beyond that?

This sound? If so, it's your ABS pump telling you it's working. It kicks on when you reach 4MPH at each start up, weather backing up or going foward.

On my 86 when I start to back up or go forward I can hear the ABS system for a second or two. Normal, but I don't usually hear it when braking.

just on start up i thought that was it but i was not sure this is my first vette so iam learning as i go thanks for your help

My 89 does the same thing (and has always done this). I agree with the postings stating the ABS system is tested at 4 mph. This is not a problem with your car, just get used to having it.
