All of the above replies will help you. There are 21 years of info concerning the L98. There is a lot of CF members with the L98. You can also use the search engine here in the CF. I do know one thing by experience, L98 are torque monsters. Welcome to the forum.

Was one year ago when I started pulling things apart for my 'simple injector o-ring replacement'!!! - Six months later and a lot of engine polishing, I was finally finished!

3 for 1, in a nutshell:

L98, SOTP wise, they're great!!!

LT1, Top-end wise, they're fun!!!

LS1, Top-speed wise, they'll run!!!

These are the basics from Gen 1 - Gen 3.

I think the roller cam started with the one piece rear main.

Someone correct me?

As the owner of an 86 vert that I pulled the motor out of. It is a one piece rear main with no roller provision in the the block. I posted some pics awhile back of it a search should turn it up.

'113s (D-ports) started for the '88 model year.

'128s are the aluminum head given to 86L coupes and all verts, the switch occurred rather late in the 86 year run, around VIN 19130 for coupes. The primary difference between '113s and '128s is the exhaust port design.
