I am looking at putting some Z06 chrome five spokes on my '96 convertible. The stock wheels are 17's front and rear as you all know. The Z06's I have are 17 front and 18 rear. I have new nitto 555's on the car now so I was thinking about purchasing the same tire but 18 for the rear.
Any issues with that? Should I go with a different size on the rears? Stock is P285/40ZR-17. I was looking at P285/40ZR-18 101W for the rear.
Or should I just buy four new tires and have my entire stock set available for emergency? I certainly plan on keeping the wheels. If I change tires what is the recommeded tire?
Correct me if I'am wrong, but aren't the 18's 10.5 inches wide? You don't state the width of the rims in your post. I believe w/ a 10.5 wide wheel, you would want to go w/ a 315/30/18 tire.

The ones I have are 8.5" front and 9.5" rears. My real concern is will the tire height fit and will the the difference in the sizes front to rear cause any issues.
No problems on mine, I have factory Z06 rims. 285/40/17 up front and 295/35/18 out back for mine. It did jack my car up a half inch in the back. With what you posted, you should see a little more added height in the back than I.
If I were you, I'd get factory size Z06 rims or at least the 9.5 rims up front, the added width in the front will REALLY help the handling. Then get tires other than that nitto you have, I also have a spare set so I know they aren't a great tire.
Recommended tire......Goodyear GS-D3 or Michelin Pilot Sport 2.
I bought a set of 2001 corvette rims and put them on my 1986.
Front tires are P245 40 ZR 17
Rear tires are P275 40 ZR 18.
I have had these on for 2 years with no problems front or rear with rubbing or turning. I do have the required adapters that are needed for the 1986 wheel offsets, but for later C4s these should have bolted on with no other adjustments.
