How do you temporarily quiet a rod knock? I have been told to add many things like thick thick oil, slick 50, and BG RF7, if you guys have any suggestion please tell me. THANKS

throwing in several cans of stp (do they still sell that?) or ''motor honey" (do they still?) or grounding the plug wire to the bad cylinder, may get you back home...if you dump it on a dealer or some unsuspecting individual, expect trouble to find you.
Don't do it ! Your conscience will bother you long after you've spent the money.
Unless of course you're trading the car in at your ex-wife's dealership
Guys it's for my dad's 2002 Jeep Cherokee which has 138,000 miles and it has a little rod knock (tick tick tick) he wants to know how to quiet it down for a while until he fixes it but he doesn't know how.

How sure are you that it's a rod? Normally, a rod knock is a double knock sound.
A ticking sound that varies with engine speed might be a lifter.
Have you sounded the engine with a stethoscope (or a big screwdriver) to locate the source?
Those I6s are super stout, I would be stunned if there was a rod problem. My brothers has over 200k on it, and a friend, the last time I spoke with him, had almost 300k on his.
