In a VATS related no-start scenario, is everything dead? As in no power to anything (radio, dash, lights, etc.). Or, is there power but no starter *click* when turning the ignition into the start position.
I'm trying to determine if I've got a gremlin somewhere.
The VATS module measures the resistance of the pellet in your ignition key and if it is the same as stored, then it closes the start enable relay allowing the starter solenoid to get 12v and allow a crank. It also sends a signal to the ECM to pulse the injectors so that you cannot start the car by pushing it. All other electrical circuits get power and the VATS module has no effect on them.
If you lose electrics when you hit crank position, that is a symptom of a poor battery connection. Remove your battery cables (neg first) and clean the cable lugs, battery terminals and the bolts and replace the cables (neg last).
