air+fuel+spark =ignition Did the fuel Pressure hold over time?Did you check the plugs for spark?Did you check the coil for spark?Did you check the the FPR for gas smell and do you smell any excess gas smells indicating flooding?
It is starting to sound like the opti or coil IMHO at this point. If it is the cap and rotor it will not give a code but you won't get spark. If it is the the guts even without it running it will generate a code 16 or 36.
I am not sure how the MSD plays into it either so you will have to find out if it can be the source somewhere else.

Just asking, did you have them test the new ignition module? I ask because I have sold new ones that would not pass the test out of the box, back in my parts pro/ manager days at the old Adv Auto.
I hate doing this but I went ahead (after speaking with someone who had similar problems) and put a new coil on it. Still no start. I did notice that with the key on the MSD box isn't lit (there is a small red/round light). Is this supposed to be on with the ignition on? A person would think so.
I did attempt to bypass this before but I cannot gaurantee that I did this sucessfully.
Anybody have any ideas?
I for got to mention that with the key "on" the MSD box is humming a little bit but no light. I'm starting to lean this way.
Did you pop out a spark plug and ground it, then crank to check for spark? I know you only have 20k miles on your present Opti, but from what I've read from this thread, i am thinking bad Opti....IMHO

Thanks Mike but no I haven't. Do you mind walking me through how you ground the plug?
this pic should help u understand all that is behind the ignition system. This deals with the "SPARK" variable of Readeasysport equation. You may also want to dis-connect, then re-connect the PCM connectors to ensure good contact. The "high" and "low" resolution pulse signals coming FROM the Opti to the PCM determine cam/crank position. Although usually relable, if this piece of the Opti is broke......no start condition..
I would like to say thanks to everyone for thier help. I finally got the time yesterday to remove the MSD ignition and reinstall the original. Seems that the MSD Digital 6 went bad!
Impossible to jump timing with an Opti.SJW is correct. If you don't have it get the FSM from www.helminc.com for your car.My guess is either opti, Ignition control module or fuel pump and all tests for them are in the manual.
Jumping timing normally means the camshaft has sliped, not the distributor.
