Re: What's the downside to supercharging? (jackdaroofer)
Just as a point of interest, I watched a dyno run on a supercharged LT-1 383 Yellow C4 and it produced 535 rwhp
with 9 lbs of boost on pump gas at Corvettes at Carlisle. Talked to the gentleman for a few minutes after the run,the only concerns he noted were some tuning issues and finding a clutch tht could handle 600 flywheel hp.
Vette Punk
Re: What's the downside to supercharging? (vette punk)
I think I saw the same Vette.... If it was (there were only a handful of Supercharged cars there) it had the Lingenfelter logo across the top of the windshield.
Soon, mine will going through a similar transformation. I'm going with the Carrollsuperchargers Paxton kit, the superfueler auxillary fuel enrichment system and the intercooling system. The car makes 360rwhp at the moment with the stock bottom end... I'm hoping that with lots of careful tuning that it'll break the 450 barrier.
Re: What's the downside to supercharging? (R94 LT 1)
Lean conditions... inadequate belt tension(slippage) too much timing..not enough retard...blown head gaskets...possibly melted pistons if overheated enough and long term fatigue on the motor if you're BOOST HAPPY. Can you tell I don't like them?
