A friend of mine has to replace the Passenger side window switch. ( got a used one at Carlisle for $2!) Anyone know the easiest way to do this? Will the dash have to be removed , to remove the center console. If so - what is the procedure for this? Thanks in advance,
Re: 85 Coupe Passenger Window switch replacement? (mikeg826)
I just did this job copla weeks ago. If you're careful (don't bend the center console too much and don't drop anything inside it) you only need to lift up the rear of the center console.
I removed all the screws from the center console and several from the DIC console to relieve pressure on the two front tabs of the center console. Then I carefully lifted the rear of the center console enough to access the two screws holding the switch in position. Once these were removed I raised the switch enough to separate it from the socket. Then I just plugged in the new switch and reversed the operation.
The job took about 1/4-1/2 hr in a friend's drive at night with a flashlight (don't ask).
