Default help, engine problems

hello my 89 corvette has suddenly began to act weird. I drove from san jose to san francisco the other day and it seemed to act as if it was jerking kinda. Acceleration wasnt smoothe. The next day it did the same thing but worse and is slugish over 2500 rpm's. After the engine heats up the oil presure goes down to around 20 at idle. About 2 weeks ago i had taken the car in to be checked out because it made a burning oil smell. They said that the intake manifold gasket needed to be repplaced, so i started doing that today. Although my dad told me his friend said it could be the fuel injectors on top of the gasket needing to be replaced. Could the injectors seem like a plausable explanation for why the car would act like it wasnt getting enough gas? or is it just because it needs a new gasket. Also if i was to replace the injectors should i just get stock ones?

The injectors could be causing the problem. Sounds like a spark problem though. You described what sounds like a miss. How long since a major tune up (plugs, wires, cap rotor, fuel filter.ect). This could be due to many things. A failing fuel pump on it's last leg, fouled plugs, bad spark plug wires, clogged fuel filter, failing injector(s). There are steps that I would take, but sounds like you have the intake apart already. If you have it apart it might not be a bad idea to replace all 8 injectors as this is not an easy task if you have to do it over again. I would ohm test the coils anyway and see what you get. Don't forget to get new fuel o-rings for the feed and return lines.

1. Check fuel pressure, key on, at idle and while driving then watch after shutdown for a sudden drop.
2. ohm all 8 injectors, should be around 16 +/- 1, each
3. Ohm the spark plug wires (5000 per foot)
4. Test the pick up coil
5. Check for vacuum leaks
6. Check the TPS volts
7. Check PVC

BTW is the check engine light on while the car is running?

As mentioned above....any codes? I'm shooting for a TPS problem myself but we can't help you unless we know if you have any codes or not.

I'd vote for an ignition problem.
