does anyone know how to change the bulbs for the 3rd brake light on a 1988 convertable?

On my 90 vert I think you can get it by taking out the gas filler assem. Should be the same for yours check the FSM

On my 86 you can pull the rear number plate and then get to the 4 10mm nuts holding the stop light unit, undo these and take the whole thing out through the number plate hole. You can then dissasemble it and chang the bulbs

Are you sure it is a bad bulb and not a bad brake light switch?
When my 89 roadster 3rd brake light was not working a new brake light switch got it working again

From what my manual says for my 87, you need to take apart the fuel filler assembly and unbolt it from the top and then pull it out through the license plate opening. Let me know how long it takes to do as I've got to do it as well.
