Gee guys whats wrong with pushing the button? It is cheap easy and fast way to disable it.I suppose you could tear one apart and find the 2 wires to the button and solder them togther. No more asr and still have ABS.
Its not a matter of pushing a button. Mine is going bad and stick so my idle is high sometimes. Plus I need the real estate where its mounted to install my MSD DIS-4.
I used a 95 Z28 cable, note how much cleaner the engine bay looks:
I wouldn't even bother making one, cable was fairly cheap, worst part of the whole gig was attaching to accelerator pedal
Other than that, I say do it!
Note that system can STILL activate ASR even with the box removed. Remember that ASR doesn't just mean that box in the engine compartment, it also means spark and brake activation - so the brakes will still cut on if it sees too much slip.
If I remember correctly I just removed the ASR fuse, or maybe just the bulb in the DIC.
I think the initial reason for this thread was to eliminate the ASR throttle linkage -- I don't have any suggestions there.
But, for those that want the ASR to default to off when the engine is started but still be able to turn it on, here is a way.
Have someone with an electronics background make you a simple "one shot" monostable circuit from a "555 Timer chip" that energizes the ASR button about 1 second after the key is turned on. This would function the same way as if you pushed the ASR button 1 second after the key was turned on.
Therefore, the ASR would always turn off at startup and you could push the button to turn it on if needed.
The 555 timer chip makes this simple to do.

ABS WILL still work fine.
Thanks for the info. I ordered one and Im just waiting for it to come.

Really, abs still works, I gotta try this, should clean up the bay and make changing plugs much easier
Guys
