Default Removing an ASR

Im looking to remove my ASR controller from my 95. What I need to know is where do I get a throttle cable to replace the one in the car now. The one in it now goes from the pedal to the ASR then to the throttle body. I need one that goes from the pedal to the throttle body.

I'm not a software, computer guru but by removing the ASR from a C4 you are looking for few problems heading your way. The ASR and ABS work together. That is just a start, hopefully somebody else in here gives you better guidance.

I installed an gen 7 dfi. I should have known that the ccm needs the ecu (which i removed) in order for the asr to work. I should have removed it too. I think the best way is to see how the cable is set up like the L98s.

Forum member RUQWKR removed his. I think he used an F-body throttle cable. It didn't affect his ABS..... pm him for details.

Someone designed a fix that would default the ASR off. That might be an easier way to go than to have to rig a new accelator setup. Mike, you can get a FastTrack piggyback harness that allows the DFI to interface with the stock system so the ASR and guauges work correctly.

It has a 4l60e in it. The reason I want to remove it is that it sticks so I have a high idle sometimes.

Having owned a 90 L-98 and now a 93 LT-1, I'm pretty sure the throttle cable off 90 the L-98 would work on the LT-1. The cable is the easy part. Taking the ASR out of the ABS & CCM loop will be the hard part. I'd like to know how you your going to do it.

When I removed my ASR I just made a custom cable. It's not hard, just get some sleeved steel cable, cut it to length, and put the little bead on the end.

However, I believe that those above me are right; once you remove ASR you lose ABS. I did. However, I also removed the accellerometer in the center of the IP. I have not tried that hard to get the ABS to work again becasue mine's not a street car, but you might not want to mess with it.

Gee guys whats wrong with pushing the button? It is cheap easy and fast way to disable it.I suppose you could tear one apart and find the 2 wires to the button and solder them togther. No more asr and still have ABS.

If that will work i'll try it tomorrow. Like i say i have the 4l80e trans in my car. I dont use a cable from the trans to the ASR any more. A computer control my trans.
Thanks Gene
