I have a 91 coupe and I've noticed that the tach is way off now after the winter standby to the order of 500 rpm higher reading then prior. Is there a fix for this or am I going to have to live with it?
TIA:
That wasn't what I had in mind which is the reason for the post. I'd prefer to keep the interior tach if it can be recal'ed or repaired in some fashion.
If the tach in the cluster is responsible for the inaccuracy, I don't know the answer. If the tach signal is the reason for it being off, an aftermarket ignition box may help. They have a port for the tach signal. Just a thought.
I would think by having the cluster recalibrated would help, try a search. I remember awhile back some members having that done with good results. I am using a zr1 cluster and if I can trust the ecm signal to the scanner/laptop it is about 150 rpm off. A shift light and rev. llimiter helps (straight to tach lead above the tach filter) as I am not relying entirely on the tach.

I just happen to be using a Jacobs ignition and never gave a thought to switching to that. Out comes the wiring diagrams.

I did a search on tachmeter and checked all but nothing came up before I posted the first time hoping to avoid a duplicate thread. If you find it, link it please.
