guys,
got an 86,
it starts up great and idles but as soon as ya press the gas pedal it dies,
if you quickly lift back off sometimes it picks back up,
you have to feather the pedal real gently to be able to pull away,
it's not as bad when warm,
can't get any info from WINaldl,
any ideas,
natt
thanks for all the replies guys,
the fuel pump relay was broken,
so i stripped and cleaned it and now it's ok,
will check all the other suggestions tomorrow,
thanks,
natt
The fuel pump relay being broken, would only make it longer to start the engine. Once oil pressure reaches 4 psi ,with some cranking, the oil pressure switch will run the pump as a back up. But glad to see you are getting somewhere.
thanks,
the car used to take about 10 seconds to start, now it starts instantly,
nice to see this paper is written by lars,
he rebuilt the carb on my 77, and it was a different car,
i took it over to him from the uk,
thanks again for the help/replies,
