I have a 91 with 92K miles. I have had if for a bit over one year. The brakes work OK, but they always need to be pressed once to bring up the power assist. I have adjusted the push rod between MC and booster, the pads and MC are new.
Does this sound like an issue with the booster. I would simply replace it, but for 200 plus dollars I would like to have confidence this might resolve this long lasting problem.
Thanks for sharing insights...................
Sounds more like you have air in the lines, try bleeding them first. Or it could be you master is going south. If your booster was gone, your brake pedal would be rock hard and you probably hear hissing from the diaphragm being ruptured.
Here's how to determine if your booster is working as it should:
Before you start your car in the morning, put your foot on the brake pedal and push moderately. Start you car, the pedal should depress about 1/4 inch and stop. Your M/C is new or rebuilt? to test it, keep pressing for a full two minutes. The pedal should not move downwards. Now to see if air is in the system, pump the pedal rapidly a few times. If it becomes firmer and higher, air must be bled from the system. Sometimes it is hard to get it all out. I just replaced my booster so this is all fresh in my mind.
