I need some of your guys' expertise. We have a 93 Polo Coupe we purchased for a customer and recently did some work on it. There was one problem we could not fix, and GM Dealership says they have no manuals to service it (a little suprising.) It has nothing to do with the exhaust we put on it, etc., the problem was there before. Here's the problem:
The car will run fine somedays, everything works great. Other days, the Check Engine Light will come on. When the light comes on, it will not shift properly, the speedo will stop working, A/C will cease to work, and it will run pretty poorly. On that info, can you guys narrow down what might cause such a problem occur?
Try to pull the codes. If I'm not mistaken on the 93 you can insert a paperclip shaped like a U into pins 4 and 12 of the ALDL under the drivers side dash and turn the ignition on, to get the codes from the PCM and they will be displayed next to the speedo. It will flash a few different things. Write them down in the order given and post on here. I don't have a 93 FSM but I'm sure someone does, to look up the codes.
