Default Fuel Line Separation - 94

I would like to know how to separate the fuel lines where the connection are on the top of the engine (one line is from fuel filter). I do not need to get them apart at this time but would like to know how they come apart and if any special tool is really necessary. I had tried once (looked at FSM) but didn’t really understand the kind of connector it was. I did not want to force it and didn’t know whether to push, pull, twist or what the trick was. I worked around that situation at that time.

Decided to change the flex lines and ordered a set of SS Goodridge lines. I also bought a ABS pump assembly for 39 + 23 shipping on Ebay for a spare part and backup just in a case I need it. For that price I can sit on it or sell it again.

you need a special tool to get the fuel line connectors apart...a 5/16 and a 3/8 tool for return and supply respectively...tools are made in plastic or metal--plastic set of 5 or 6 (nemonic lag) at sears is abt $10...open the tool and put it over the metal line, slide tool into connector to spread internal spring grippers, and pull connector gently apart...if available, compressed air should be used to blow any dirt out of connector before inserting tool--if no blow-off is used, carefully inspect and clean before reassembly--lube end of metal line with engine oil before reassembly....some connectors have a dirt shield over the joint ...too much muscle will make these connectors difficult to operate--be gentle

I really appreciate the information, it was exactly what I was looking for.

And second good thing is that I get to buy another new tool.
