And since we don't have a "tools of the trade" forum -and- because so many of you have more experience than me with these things -and- since it's a sort of matter of safety -and- since I actually respect C4 tech's opinions, I thought I'd give it a shot.
I just bought a 2 1/4 ton jack from Harbor Freight (it seems they're all made in China anymore) and decided to try it out today. Well, it works great, but I notice some fluid coming from the little piston that the jack lever actuates. Is this normal, or is it something that I should wory about? The jack seems to hold pressure pretty well and I cannot complain about anything else. I just noticed a build-up of fluid in the "red" area. Maybe it's just "breaking in..." Any thoughts?
When I bought mine it did the same thing(Harbor Freight) and after a short while it would loose pressure. Took it back and they gave me a new one. (Bad Seal)-Not worth having your C4 on your chest!
The only U.S.A. jack anymore is Hein Warner. Great but retail is over $300.00 You'll be o.k. with a China jack just remember the jack is for lifting the vehicle not supporting the weight for any length of time.
