I have an USB OBD II cable from moates and it works fine. I have never had any problems with it. You just have to make sure there aren't too many other USB devices connected at the time and the com settings are correct. If you are trying to use a serial cable you already have I would contact them and see what they say.

Ok, I know that this most of the time don't work. But I figure it is worth a shot. My bros got a brand new laptop, so it only has USB ports.
What adapter do you guys recommend that works the best.

akmcables.com has a serial to USB cable for use with datamaster and tunercat (some others too I believe). Check out his site, he is a really helpful and good guy.
