A friend has a 73 vette with a blown motor. He has got the blown motor pulled out of the vette right now. He is looking at an LT-1 motor from a 95 police car. (Don't know exact year of car)
Question is, did the police cars around 93-95 have the LT-1 motor? And how can we determine the engine is an LT-1 motor and not just a regular 350? I assume the LT-1 block would have different casting #s than a regular 350, or even L98, right? Any one have the #s of an LT-1 so I can verify the motor before my buddy buys it?
Thanks,
Pretty sure the police cars used an Iron headed LT-1. He is better off trying to find one out of a Camaro unless he has some aluminum LT1 heads to go on it. Easiest way to see if it is an LT1 is the water pump if it is still on the block, or if the front cover has the 3 holes in it (one for water pump, one for Opti, and one for the Crank). If all he wants is a bare block, then there are planty of sources to find one.
Cool,
thanks... we just called the guy that is selling the motor. The guy says the add in the trader was incorrect. The motor is out of a 90 police car, so I know that is not an LT-1.
Thanks,
