Quick Alternator install question....

Default Quick Alternator install question....

How important is the black support rod that connects to the driverside exhaust manifold? It wont work on my Hooker headers with the elliminator. Is it ok to just leave it off and get everything else plenty tight. That would leave the alternator hooked up via the power steering pump bracket, and the air pump eliminator bracket.

At low speeds, you shouldn't have a problem, but when the R's climb, vibration could cause the belt to jump off, and that's bad news.

If at all possible, re-install the brace.

There's got to be a way to install a bolt in the header to allow you to mount the brace.

Give Hooker a call and see if they make something that'll work.

I ran an F-body long and hard without and could not tell it was not there. Nice to have but not essential.
