Could someone please point me in the direction of some of the laptop scantool software I have heard about? Cheap or free?

Thanks, Bob

got this info from a forum member that i hang with on corvette saturdays!
haven't checked the links yet, so don't know how up to date the links are
http://www.ttspowersystems.com/dmprice.htm http://www.lt1.net/editor/Lt1page5.htm http://www.mindspring.com/~amattei/akmelect.htm

also may be more info on MY post on the same subject http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=130925
good luck! and keep me posted on what you find....i hear the worst part is that cable....its about $100.....i am trying to see if i can find someone to make a GOOD one instead of the exposed circuit boards....unfortunately i may have to break down and buy the expensive one to reverse engineer!

Isn't there a guy here (or known here) that made a simple program and cable that is very comparable to Diacom?

isn't funny that someone want $100 for 3 feet long $5 cable and TWO $5 connectors (sorry, there is couple 5 cents resistors there ). That simple funny. People !!!!
Nobody there know shematic that cable and free software that run with it????
I found where is software but without cable, and cable but without software.
pay for that combo $200-600 is radiculus.
I read I think all topics about that problem on that forum and found nowhere solution. Yes yes, buy diacom
maybe now is time: There is software, and there is cable schematic that work!!
That is all I think we need for answer, not another links to clever people that wants $200 - $ 500 for somethink is worth $5 maybe $20
I do not thinking that making bussiness is something bad, not at all !!!
But I think we should help each other there, at least we are vette drivers!

Hi,

You need the software from Craig Moates.

The software is very good, free, and you can even make changes to
it if you want, and a very cheap but good working interface cable.

Has anyone tried the AutoXray cable? it is 30 bucks. It should work with any software shouldn't it? I would assume that since the ALDL plugs have specific information sent through each pin, that all the cables are going to be similar so the software can read the data coming from that specific pin.

I use the Auto-Xray 12pin to 16pin adaptor to plug in my ALDL interface.

I believe the Lap Top end of the cable is a DB-9 serial cable, but the Auto-Xray cable does not have a RS=232 plug so it won't fit the Lap Top. It's a cable custom molded for Auto-Xray; these people aren't stupid.

Maybe I should ring out my Auto-Xray cable and see what's up there. Only five of the ALDL pins are being tapped by this cable. If the interface is serial to the Lap Top then only two pins are rquired.

What do you Diacom users think? What are the pros and cons of this product? Thanks
