Default Low Coolant Light

Ok, still learning about my 95 LT1 coupe. I noticed today that all lights are active on my DIC except "Low Coolant" (not including the top right ones which did not come on my car).

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

The car, on its garage inspection, had codes 32/67/78.

Code 32 is EGR circuit fault
Code 67 A/C Pressure sensor circuit or A/C clutch failure or Cruise switch failure
Code 78 is not listed in Chiltons. Don't know why. It skipps it.

The DIC indicator lights are suppose to come on as a self-test when the ignition is turned on. Once the engine starts, the lights should go out if the systems pass their start-up tests.

Are you saying that all the lights are on with the engine running??

Default Hi Cruiser

Thanks for the response.

Here is my situation. The other day I pulled out the owners manual and opened it to the section on the DIC. I went to my Vette (95 Coupe LT1) and turned the key to observe the DIC . I did not turn the engine over.

All of the DIC lights came on expect for two areas mentioned in the owners manual.

The first was the upper right hand corner which is for the low tire warning system. I assume that is dark as it is an option probally not selected by the original owner . No big deal.

The second exception was for the "Low Coolant" light. It does not appear when I have turned the key. I saw that as a concern.

So, my respectful question to the board is, what could cause this? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?

Thanks

Either the bulb for the Low Coolant warning is burned out or the sensor is bad. The sensor is located in the surge tank and I believe that the sensor is actually part of the tank and not replaceable as an individual item. Also check to see if the wire is attached to the sensor. It should be on the lower part of the tank on the valve cover side.

The LPTWS light is controlled by that system so if the car didn't have that particular option, there would be no light. Same thing for the Service Ride Control light if your car does not have the FX3 option.

Edit: I had thought my car didn't have a coolant level sensor, because it wasn't in the radiator. Didn't know it was hidden under the surge tank.

The LOW COOLANT light does not illuminate during the "key on" self test for the late model C4's. The light only comes on when the coolant is low. It is not included with the other warning lights during the self-test.

The thread may not be current but the INFORMATION is still relevant.

I don't agree with the 45 day Forum policy. My opinion...

It'd also be nice if folks came back and closed the loop when a problem is fixed or a solution is found... Make for a nice complete thread. ( can't say that I've always done that either though... )
