I see that the ZO7 RPO is a special handling option for the C4 corvettes...what is it? I have a 91 L98 6 spd car with adjustable suspension...wondering if I have the ZO7 option. I have heard that the RPO codes are listed under the center console. I am not currently around the car due to being on deployment.....
I'm assuming that the ZO7 package is a stiffer suspension with better shocks/struts and stiffer springs, maybe lower ride height...better sway bars.....
also, how can I tell what gear ratio my car has?
thanks
Ian
I had a new steel blue 91 Z07 6 speed coupe, for a short time back in 1991. The car was equipped (intentionally) just like a ZR1 except for the low tire pressure sensors, and had the painted top only.
It was a nice car, but the springs were so stiff it rendered the fx-3 adjustable ride control almost useless. For the 2k option price I wasn't too happy with it. I had way to much money into options with the Z07, and power/sport seats to be a good value.
The 91 Z-07 was the toughest of the breed. In subsequent years it was softened up quite a bit. It has the stiffest springs, FX-3 shocks, 13 in front brakes, big anti roll bars, polyurethane suspension bushings, performance axle ratio, oil cooler, quicker steering ratio and was an option for the gymkana and track folks. It is pretty much a streetable Corvette Challenge race series car. It came from the factory with all the aftermarket stuff people add to their Vettes to make them really handle. I have a 91 that I autocross and I have stiffened up my chassis with a RD Racing Camber Brace, Cross Frame, and S/T Frame roll bar. The only thing I would wish for is bigger brakes and I already have the big brakes. I just put a new 383 in it that I'm trying to get dialed in, its never done, it just gets better!
Z-07 = Only aggressive drivers need apply.
Z-07 Freak is right on the money!

What I meant, was I wasn't too happy with it for the price as a new buyer back in 1991. I ordered it that way and wasn't too happy after driving it for 3k miles.
I would've been happy with the old Z51 without the costly FX-3.
I didn't mind that it was always stiff, what I did mind was the added cost of the 3-way switch and shock actuators, that provided 3 choices of always stiff, with only minor perceived differences in damping.

With the FX-3 option, the three position switch didn't really seem to make alot of difference at low speed. The stiffness of the shocks also had to do with speed and the switch setting. I have seen a chart on it but it was a long time ago. Could probably get it from Hib. Z07 freak also could probably make a reference to it. I bought my 91 and didn't even know it was a Z07 (sorry guys). I thought it was a corvette and rode a bit stiff. Then I bought my 92 with base suspension and the cars are totally different. I used to have my passengers put the FX3 switch in any position and keep it covered with their hand, and I could tell them what position it was in 95% of the time.
