Default cooling fan

Hey fellas, happy 4th....I have a 95 lt1 with 75000....I was in traffic yesterday and i noticed that my temp went up to 234, before it started to go down, i don't know if the fan went on at 228 like it is supposed to, but it never went over 228 before..i know its hot and humid outside but is this anything that i should worry about. I changed the antifreeze about 2 years ago...thanks guys

For 95 fans go on "lo" at 228*& "Hi" at 238*. I'm sure there is always some variation, but seems like nothing to worry about.

Might be a good idea to change the coolant & inspect the front of the
radiator for dirt, etc. There is an inspection hole on the pass side of the fan shroud.

Default Things to Consider

Yes, sound advice above.

Since its been two years since your last coollant change, it is time to replace that. I am new Vette owner, and have posted regarding overheating questions. In that research I have been fortunate to have learned a great deal.

1. I would suggest doing a replace of coolant each year and doing a flush.
2. While true that schedules state that this can be done every two years, our Vette engines run quite hot, and given the insulation on the hood heat does not displace well. Given that demand, annual changes would strile me as a wise move.
3. Since it has been two years since the coolant change, I would change the hoses too.
4. Check and see when your fans cycle on. The standard temps are the above.
5. Trash, check for trash in between the radiator and condensor. Look under the front bumper for this.

Your temps are normal.

If you think you are too hot, cycle on the AC to activate the fans. Use the heater to bleed heat if needed.

Ok, I realize that the advice above might strike some as too much. My view is this - while the system is empty changing the hoses is a cheap added proceedure. Also, replacing the hoses is good proactive maintainance. This is not something that one wishes to fail before replacing.

Also any cooling maintanence would be a good investment for auto transmission protection as well. It depends on that system for it cooling as well.

Again, your temps were by no means endangering your engine if on a short term basis.
