Default SYS Help

Just had the ECM changed by dealer. Drove home, no problem. Next day tried to start car-ESR light comes on, the security light on the dash flashes, and where normally you see the oil temp and engine temp values on the digital portion of the dash, "SYS" flashes consecutively wit the security flash- Now what?

Car just cranks and won't start.

'92 auto.

sounds like low battery voltage indicator. How far down does the dash voltage gauge dip while you are cranking. Since they disconnected your battery while putting in new ECM, check to make sure that they fastened it securely......Check both Pos. and Neg. posts

I have heard many stories of people buying "bad" new alternators....so you may want to have it checked just to be sure...

Good Luck....

My guess is the ECM is bad(again). Will contact dealer tomorrow. Unfortunately it will need to be towed in.

Default Bad brain

Yup, had the car towed to the local dealer and sure enough they called me a few hours later and told me the ECM was bad (again).

Good thing I bought the Delco factory rebuilt one ($425.00) vs the aftermarket $95.00 module (which probably is the same thing, anyway).

I know Delco has some financial troubles, and you wonder why.

Now I am again on a wait list for another ECM.
