I finally decided to get off my foot and do some cleaning. I cleaned the valve covers with a product called Simple Green Automotive this stuff is great. Cleaned them up real nice with a little scotch-brite. Tommorow afternoon I am going to tackle the backside of my rims (I know I am a freak)
I would of done them tonight but, I went to remove the jack for the first time probably since 1992 and what a mess under there, You should of seen my neibors watching me clean the spare tire and where it goes. They must think I am a friggin NUT...
I did the insides of my front wheels - man! It took forever, and I still dont think I got them clean all the way. But - it was an improvement. by the way, I jumped over to your website, and saw in your maintenance section about ordering the "red wires". Did you ever get them in and installed? I looked forever, but couldnt find them. I guess I didnt look hard enough. Besides - I got a new set on there (took about half a day) so I dont really feel like doing it again. It caused a lot of :cuss
half a day for wires???? mind if i ask why? LT1? i have an L98 and it almost takes longer to take them out of the box than to put them on! the real chore will be the spectre wire looms....i have NO idea how they will ever fit on the L98 valve covers! :jester

Yep - LT1. Once I got going, I'd say it was probably only about a 2 hour job. But it felt like half a day, once you factor in all the breaks I had to take. It just requires you to get into some awkward positions on an LT1 that for someone not too limber like me....kinda wore me out.
Besides the pain in the butt getting to the plugs - snaking the wires down to the "distributor" (I dont think they call it that on the LT1) was waaay beyond a female dog! It is deep down in front, you cant really get to it from the bottom, the the hole to snake the wires through is REALLY small. If the L98 is easier - CONGRATS! I wish mine were that easy to change, because for $50 I would put a red-colored set in (to match the car).

Kevin; what did you tell me about a month ago when I commented on spending my only day off cleaning??? It's on your license plate. :yesnod:
By the way, it's raining in NC today, so I just got done (re)cleaning my engine compartment. Ordered some Flitz, so I can (re)do my piping...and my neighbors look at me like I'm NUTZ too when I clean my spare tire unit..!!
