Default Throttle Body Upgrade...yes or no?

So I just installed my Hot Cam....Im going to tear down and put the Long Tubes on as soon as they get here...Ive been waiting 8 weeks now for them. Will I see a difference if get a 52mm or 58mm Throttle body? I'm thinking 58mm is overkill but will it hurt my system? Just looking for some thoughts. Thanks guys.

Also do they make throttle body spacers for LT's

Most likley the 48 is more than enough to still have your motor flowing very nicely. The 58 is definitly way overkill.

Did you do any head porting?

BTW a TB spacer is a waste of money. Whoever makes those should be put in jail for fraud.

hahhaah thought so on the spacer. I havent done any head porting but I figured the LT4 heads already flow better than the LT1 so I might as well get a 52mm. I am eventually looking at porting heads. I just dont want to switch to a 52mm and lose performance. How much HP does a 52 mm hold up? Also VR92...does your vette pass emissions?

I dont think you'll see much gain with the 52, and I wouldnt use a 58 on a 350 anyway.

Do not buy a spacer.

I'd switch to the 52 when you do head porting. Both require tuning so I'd do em together for one tune session.

Does my vette pass emissions?

How about, hell no?

(For Bogus) I am looking to change that one of these days though

I put a 52mm along w/Big Mouth Manifold and ASM runner's on my L98 and it loved it!(really seemed to love it!) as far as the 58mm I don't believe your Vette is in the market for such a mouth on your intake(wont do anything). Get the 52mm and anything you do flow wise later will compliment the 52mm.(I know it did that for mine!)

Thanks,Matt

Hahahaha I thought there would be maybe a .001% chance it might....then I just read through and saw no cats and that definitely had Hell no screaming all over it. Thanks for the input!!! Also, im going to need a tune once I throw on my Long Tubes in the next week or so (Ive been waiting 8 weeks for them to be delivered!!!). PCM4Less...is that worth it? Did you have to send yours back in a couple times or did Alvin hit the nail on the head the first try?

Yeah even the mightly Lt-4 really needs a tune especially with LTs added in your setup. From my experience Alvin (PCMS4Less) is the way to go here. He nailed mine first time. (Although I need to send him some datalogs just incase he can get it even better.) Since you are OBD2 you may have to go through the other guy @ PCMs4less. I sure he does a good job too but you may want to ask some LT4ers where they are finding the best tunes.

I would recommend PCM for Less. I've been very happy with the tune they did on my LT4.

So at what point is a 58mm TB needed?

I am wondering what to is necessary to feed my ported intake/heads 383 coming next month. Cam is going to be one of the newer Comp Cams XFI grinds (cc467), 230/236 @ .050 w/ 576/570 lift (w/ 1.6 rockers). I'm thinking >400 hp at the wheels should not be a problem if the head porter does what he says he can do.

I'm running a 52mm TB on my car. Sorry, I don't have scientific proof that it increased the HP. The 52mm was what my heads/cam guy recommended, so that's what I went with. I upgraded the camshaft again last year, and my heads/cam guy recommended a 58mm for the new combination. But, I'm still running the 52.

My only recommendation would be: If upgrading your TB, have your stocker bored out to 52mm. Seems like the bored/stock TB's have alot leass problems than their billet counterparts.

Probably something like your setup or a 396.
