If you can actually hear the engine pinging under load, then the knock is real and the knock sensor is probably functioning correctly. It is also "hearing" that, and in turn, the ECM is retarding the timing.
I am unfamiliar with codes 72 and 74, but there are a few causes of knock. Check out this thread:
ECM error code 41 is Cylinder Select Error.
Could also be related to your code 43 problem.
Manual says to reseat the Mem Cal. Open the hood disconnect the negative battery cable.
Unbolt the ECM (Box above the battery). Flip it upside down and you'll see a small access door. Remove the bolts and the small cover. You'll see the Mem Cal. Press on the two ejector handles and the Mem Cal will pop off.
On a 90 Vette the Mem Cal circuit board also contains the Electronic Spark Control circuitry.
DTC #43: Knock Sensor Circuit.
DTC #72: Vehicle Speed Sensor Loss.
DTC #74: Traction Control System Circuit Low
This kind of puzzled me, my l98 has no traction control
No, it doesnt. DTC 72 is gear selector switch acording to the list i have here. But the other list i have here (for 92-93) said 72 is LCD Dimming open, and 74 LCD display open. Im not sure on 90, but i think you mightve read the codes list for 94-95 there.
