I have an automatic 1994 coupe. How many miles under normal operating conditions will an automatic transmission like the 4L60-E be able to give good service? I bought a shift kit and servo for it last year and still have not installed it. Additionally I have been running Amsoil synthetic in the transmission and rear axel for about 40K miles. Would it hurt to install the shift kit at my current mileage of 140k miles?
I will also be installing ported and polished heads, hot cam and RR in the fall, will this be too much for a high mileage tranny?

A typical life for the 4l60e is 75-150k under normal conditions. The shift kit is opinonal. The common opinions are that the B&M kit will cause premature failure ,especially of the planetary gearsets, due to the shock caused by the locked accumulators. I have had many long life transmissions with the B&M though. Some say the Transgo actually prolongs the life of the trans. It likely does. It involves major reworking of the trans, offers progressive firmness of the shifts and is very highly regarded. What servo are you installing?

I bought the Transgo Shift Kit and a Servo from them as well. I don't remember off the top of my head which specific servo though. I'll check later and post.
The reason that I asked is because the transgo kit I am thinking of comes with the vette servo. If this is the case, you already have it in your existing trans. If it is the same, you can always sell it.

Yes the kit comes with a 700-R4 Servo piston, I just checked. But I had them send me another servo piston that was supposed to be a better performer than the standard corvette servo piston. I be dammed if I can find it though. I bought this kit when I lived in South Carolina, and somehow the Servo has gotten separated from the Transgo Kit. Actually the kit comes with a Servo Piston, not the whole assembly. I bought a sevo kit wich included two pistons a bunch of Orings and some other junk.
