DTC CODE 301 help
my 96 LT4 is sporting a 301 on the DTC code. Can any one confirm this is a misfire on cyl one. DTC says a 300 is a multi misfire and one book says a 301 in misfire on cly one.
whats confusing is my book shows a 312 as cyl 12 and I assume that is for a V12 in another auto??????????????????????

OB2 is a universal diagnostic scheme that covers everything that's built from '96 forward (and a few before that too if so equipped). Obviously, if you don't have 12 cylinders, you won't have to diagnose a 312, but the handbooks that come with scanners, or the generic info that's out there, don't know that, so they list every possible code. You only need to concern yourself with the codes that pop up on your car, or buy the Factory Manuals as they cover the diagnostics applicable to your vehicle and omit the trivial pursuit stuff. And speaking of the Manuals, maybe someone can give you the troubletree for your 301. It lays out a logical approach to finding out what caused it.
