1990 tack not working

1990 tack not working

the tack does not work when you start the car the tack jumps up to 6 then back down the 0 i hooked my scaner up and it gives me the RPM any ideas thanks

Your Tach problem

I recently bought a '90 that had not been used much for it's age and initially had some erratic to inop tach problems. They never seemed to last long, so I never pursued it.

I had seen previous Tach problems entries on the Forum, so I thought I'd share. I'm sure you'll get lots of help on this but:

Problem Source Possibility: Tach Filter, which OEM is no longer available

Previous suggestions: disconnect it - Tachs seem to work fine without it.

But since it may have had a valuable purpose sources for after market:

Of course it could be your tach or connections etc, but you might want to check here first. I know if mine starts acting up, it will be the first thing I check.

Mine was doing the same on an 89'. Disconnected then reconnected and it started working. Figure I got lucky.

Have to go aftermarket. See above.
