Default Headlight replacement-Any tips? IAC stuff also.

Well I got the IAC cleaned and what a difference. It really ran better not to mention the better idle. My wife still isn't happy about me using a cordial glass to soak the spring and pintail. Anyway, I went for a longer drive then expected and came home in the dark. I know, that's where some of you feel I've always been. I noticed the drivers headlamp was out so I'm planning to replace it today. Should I be concerned about a glass or plastic lens, halogen or what and any tricks on the replacement itself are appreciated? Thanks, Frank 91L98

Keep an eye on e-Bay for this guys to post an auction for the set that replaces the Corvette lights with these Xenon HID type. THese have a lighter, glass front houseing and they take the replaceable bulb h4's in a blue-white color. I paid a total of $46 ($37 + $9 shipping) for mine and they are SO much brighter and better thant the stock lights.

What is this IAC and cordial glass? I have no clue

Sorry for the ignorance!
O and for the head light. I changed mine about 3 days ago and it was very easy to do. 1 tip is to move the head light bucket manually to get to the screw on the inside between the hood and the light bezel. ;) I used replacement called Cool blue Headlights I got from "shh wispering" from kragens for 14$ a piece. There work great!!

Blk91; I had to ask what an IAC was about a month ago so don't feel bad. I guess they are on most fuel injected engines but for sure on our L98's. With the butterfly closed in our throttle bodies (foot off the gas) there is no air passing through the TB yet there has to be air getting into the engine or it will stall. Enter the Idle Air Control valve. It's job is to let enough air in from a passage under the throttle body to keep the engine idling. It's mounted horizontally, under the throttle positioning sensor, on the passenger side of the throttle body. You'll see kind of a square electrical plug-in attached. The ARI screws into the TB and has a electrically signaled & sprung, cone shaped valve (about 3/8") that travels fore and aft from it's seat in order to let in varying amounts of air through the afore mentioned passage way.
Once my car got warmed up it wouldn't hold a solid idle RPM. It would vary from 500 to a 1000rpm's and run choppy at speed. Just a normal take off (6 speed) would require more revs etc.
With the service manual and help from this site I removed and disassembled the TB yesterday. The IAC passage ways were full of carbon/soot stuff. I cleaned the passage ways with brushes and soaked the IAC valve (up to the threads ONLY). I used a tooth brush to clean the pintail after it soaked. The car runs much better now and the setting of the IAC seems to have actually worked, this time. Hope the explanation is clear.....Frank
PS: Oh yea, the cordial glass. It's a after dinner liqueur little glass for B&B, Drambuie and the like. This one measured about 2" high and about 3/4" wide. Just right for filling with TB cleaner and soaking the pintail assembly while the nut part rested on the rim.

Aww! Ok so the IAC passage was clogged. besides the varying idle did it kinda sputter and high R's?

Naa. It ran fine at high rpm's, almost. The passages weren't that clogged in comparison to the valve (mushroom) head and seat. It had enough stuff on it to prevent it from seating properly and allowed an incorrect volume of air or other then was called for by the valve from the ecm. This becomes less of a value as the air intake increases so the higher the rpm the less overall effect.
