Default 85 spedo flaky after motor install

Hope someone can shed some light on this one. Just had my rebuilt engine installed and before it i had no spedo problems. Started it up and down the road the spedo showed 0. Car warmed up it continued to show 0 miles per hr for 3 or 4 miles. All of a sudden 1 mile appeared the 2 then 13 then 45 then 1 again and on and on for about 6 or 7 miles till it settled down to correct steady reading. Now every time i park it for any length of time it goes through the same thing. If i do stops and get back in shortly the spedo seems to work properly. Anyone ever run into this. Im afraid to continue driving because it sure drives the tranny crazy

Recently my speedo had 35+mph at a red light. Wondering if it is a ground or connection at tranny (speedo is electronic). Cleaned connection to tranny and I haven't had a chance to test it.

The wacky mph then makes your average mpg go berserk. 5.6mpg

I too was wondering if there was a ground or connection that was affected by motor removal? I checked and cleaned ground at top of air pump as well as three on back of L/s head but all are tight. Nothing else would have been removed. I think....
