Default R-D cross bar help...

have a question about the cross bar camera mount. Its been weeks since r-d has emailed back so i couldn't find out there. What size/thread are the 2 bolts that screw the camera mount plate into the bar?
thanks

I had a camera mount with my cross bar but never installed it. It's all gone now since I installed a roll bar but I'd guess they'd either be 5/16" or 3/8" NC.

nope I did have the bar powdercoated so it might be why i can't easily thread any screws in. I wanted to make sure before i try to force the wrong size in and strip the threads

For my '89, the bolts for the camera mount on the
R-D Cross-Bar are 5/16 dia NC x 3/4" (1/2" hex head)

My vote - do not force a bolt into coated threads.

Get the proper tap size and chase the threads.
I recommend a Bottoming Tap (a different taper on
the end - you don't need the style used for cutting
new threads, you want to get full thread for as
much of what you can reach.)

If you haven't done this before, one proceedure is
to get the tap started and then turn 3/4 in, followed
by 1/4 turn back out. Repeat until the tap reaches
the end of the blind hole. This procedure allows
the cuttings to drop out into the flutes.

A proper tap holder will ake the job easier.
