I remember when they first came out with the system for the ZR1's, and they had a guy buy it with a Vette Dr's modded ZR1. Had the 3" B&B system (when it used to be "truely 3" front to back) and they swapped the exhaust system ONLY and ran back-to-back dyno runs. The Corsa system picked up 15 HP...for a smaller exhaust system...makes 'ya think...Corsa didn't do the test, but it was done by an independent shop like your TJ...

If they went to 3", they would need to double their investment in equipment (3" mandrels for the benders) and they would need to stock double the raw materials (3" and 2.5" stainless tubing, etc.) AND they would have to R&D if the new system would ACTUALLY work like the old one.

I am another who wants to get a 3" system, as my 427 SBC NEEDS that much to breath...I'll have to go to a B&B system when I finally get the motor done (IF I don't add a twin-turbo to it first )
I am sure Corsa has thought it all out and figured that there isn't the market for an additional 3" system for the C4 cars. They do possess the mandrels for bending 3" and the material stock as they do produce a 3" system for the vipers. And you are correct in that they would have to do the R&D on how the larger tubing would affect the initial design of the system.

However there are a lot of performance oriented ZR1 guys, and a many many rodded up LTx or L98 cars out there that would benefit from a 3" system. Mine is a blown 396 inch LTx engine with large AFR heads pushing 8 PSI for now. My new engine is another 383 with larger AFR heads, larger cam and a larger T trim to make 12 PSI+. That same engine made 620 at the rear wheels in another members car that I sent to So Cal, it has the BB 3" and my X pipe on it, and it made that power through the CATs.

I would be very curious as to what the car would make with a smaller Corsa system. I just want my car to resonate less inside, that would make me just cuz then the old lady would ride with me more often But I would hate to have to spend about $1k on a Corsa just to hack it up to fit my car. And then if I didn't like it to have to sell it at a loss.

TJ,
I didn't catch that, that they already made a 3" system for the Viper...

I guess it's more the R&D and additional space/inventory for 2 different sizes of systems that are the problems then.

My car will have to be happy with some B&B 3" mufflers when the motor gets done. Since I'm doing a rear-mounted twin-turbo system everything is going to need to be fabbed up anyway. It sure will be fun to plan it out.

I may be the minority opinion on this here, but it just looks plain stupid when one tip gets all coated with soot and the other looks perfectly clean. It LOOKS fake. I'll stick with my rectangular tip BORLA mufflers and that deep BORLA sound!

Not like that with a Magnaflow, you can see all the way to the back of the muffler on both tips, that's probably why mine is so loud

Uncork the inner ones and then see if the outers flow. Or do you drive around with the tennis ***** in there?

If they make a 3" system i know 3 people that would instantly buy a system.

Just like Tj said, my fiancee just got a headache today on a 25 min drive out. The resonance is disgusting. AT first it didn't bother me at all but now when i cruise its real bad. I find that putting up the volume on the system helps but then when I realize the volume is up all the way ...
Cruising in 5th gear with 3.73s is fine and at over 135 km/hr in 6th is fine. Problem is the avg speed is 100-125 km/hr and 5th is a little high and 6th too low.

I can say one thing.. If Corsa made a 3" system nobody would care about a fake (ok fake looking) tip.

-Make that 4....Even better if it cold have an authentic LT1 tip on it.
-We need to link Corsa up with these threads....
-Plenty of L98, LT1 and damn near all the ZR1 guys would buy these. THey arent going to down grade from the 3" exhaust they have now to 2.5". At least not too many of them anyway. Even better if the muffs could be bought seperately if desired.

Edit: Email inquiry sent. Lets see how they respond...
