Default SLP Intake Installation Question

I finally installed the intake, one screw got off, the other's plastic head got off instead of the whole screw, but the intake still fit. What do I do with the spacers? I put them on the screw and tried to screw the intake in but it wouldn't fit with the spacer in.

What can I do about that other screw that is missing the plastic head, it won't budge. Thanks, Suke.

I have the same problem if you are talking about the 3 large plastic screw heads used to hold the filter top on. I plan to shoot WD40 on the threads then take lock plyers to the metal part of the screw and wiggle it free then unscrew with the lock plyers. Anyone had this problem?

The spacers go on between the intake and the screw top. Start one screw turning just until it catches the threads in the shroud, the go do the same on the other screw. You have to push down on the intake to get the second screw to start, but trust me, it will. Then screw them down the entire way. Very tight fit. If the screw top comes off, you can hammer it back on (put some treadlock or adhesive in the screw head first). I had to hammer one back on twice before I got it to stay on.

When I installed mine, I deformed the first few rows of the K&N filter. If you look at it, you will see that the filter almost completely blocks the opening, and the filter has rubber on the first row, which gives the air a hard time getting in. Well satisfied with it.

No probs with mine. Only needed a screwdriver for the clamp. I did not have the smog pump connection to the old intake, leaving an unplugged vent into the intake.

I went to Home Depot and found little rubber caps that are intended to fit over TV cart or chair legs for $1.89. It capped the intake up nicely and neat.

Only problem I had w/mine was getting the bellows to fit over the intake....had to wind up getting a second bellows from a fellow Forum member and heating it and stretching it over intake.....also used the plugs from Home Depot to plug up vent hole nicely.

I like the system, but have to periodically tight up screws that hold it down to radiator shroud...they seem to loosen up pretty easily...

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to try to use some wd-40 again and try to screw that one screw off again. I'll check out that rubber thing in the front of the filter too. How does it sound when you hit the gas? I hear a little "swoosh" noise when the hood is up.
