Default Forced Induction for a 383?

I have a 383 and I have set it up for a super charger system. My cam specs are 580 gross lift, and 235/245 duration @.50. My compresion is 8.7/1. I have dart pro1 heads 215cc intake 190 exaust. I also have a viglanty 2800 stall conveter. (dam it was expensive) I am still looking for a intake. Should I go with a mini ram or a super ram? and I was looking at a ATI PRO Charger. will this system deliver the claimed performance? will it deliver the clamed 15+ PSI? and are there any other super charging systems avalible?

Which model Pro Carger are you looking at? Will it be intercooled? Pounds of boost is not what you want on a modified engine. Those are really big heads and a high lift cam. Make power not boost and you will be a happy blown driver. You might ask you question at the third gen power adder forum.

How do you like the Dart Pro 1 heads? did you run in to any problems with them, did you have them ported?
Im thinking about putting Pro 1 200 on my car but they are ported.

The dart heads are great, however the intake ports are BIG. I had to make a custom gasket when I had my stock ported intake on the car. My heads are not ported. They are to big for 350, but if you have a 383 or larger go for them.

The D-1 will make boost but not what is advertised on your engine because of the cam and heads that you have will allow the air to flow better than on a stock engine. Boost numbers that you see in ad's are for stock engines some people think that they have to show boost but the blower is still moving the same amount of air but it is going into the engine instead of being blocked by restrictive Intake\ heads\cam\ Your cam has a lot of duration for a street driven blower motor. You didn't say but I assume it has a 114 LSA. As stated above you transmission will last about as long as a snow ball in hell behind that setup. As funny as it sounds you will break less drive train parts with a bigger motor with a blower on it. Guy's with 350 and big cams have very little low end torque so they floor it and drop the clutch at high rpm and shock load the drive train. I bring my car out of the hole at 1500rpm then slowly apply more throttle just enough to keep the tires a the point of breaking lose. I have read on this forum some horror storys about the procharger but I have been runing mine for over two years with not one single problem. One post that claimed they would not boost I looked up that persons profile and it was a 16 year old high school boy BOY I BET HE HAS OWNED A LOT OF SUPERCHARGED VETES IN HIS LIFETIME You will need a different computer there are several I use the accel DFI also need big injectors and MSD boost retard \ A real good ignition system and $$$$$$$$$$$$$ but once you get it going you will think it was worth it.

Well,

If you get less boost from an identical blower running at the same RPM you are actually moving MORE air! You need a restriction to build boost, and that same restriction is limiting the air flow ...

I've called ATI may times. It is typical to get a different answer every time. The sales people there seem to know very little about their products. The term "idiots" comes to mind.

I sent their head of cutomer service an Email a couple of times,.... never got a response.

I always hear of warrenty nightmares w/ ATI. ATI seems to claim bad oil service as a typical non-warrenty repair. Of coarse they decide this!

Some say the 600B has many quality issues, and the D1 is better.

Their actions before the sale tell me they will be even more useless after the sale.

I have yet to hear of these problems when dealing w/ Vortech!
ATI has earned their bad reputation.

Well Zylarace you may be right but like a stated above I have been running one for two years without a problem. If i have trouble with mine that will make it hard to decide where to buy another blower i wont buy vortech because they use cast impellers 35000 psi tensile strength. ATI uses 7075 T-6 aircraft alluminum billet impellers 83000 psi tensile strength but you already knew that didn't you :boxing
