Default '94 Console Disassembly Questions

Heya everyone! I have two questions for you regarding the disassembly of various parts of the dash in a '94.

1. I'm trying to replace the seatbelt chime. I bought a used unit from another member of the forum and I pulled off the knee bolster today to see if I could find where it needs to go. ...couldn't find it. Rather than start fiddling with wiring harnesses and setting off airbags, I thought it best to ask here. Can someone describe the location of this little black box and if it is even possible to replace it withough pulling the whole dash apart?

2. Like others, I've had some trouble with the CD player in my Delco/Blows system. I'm trying to pull the plate off this area, but it looks like the trim plate on the center console (cup holders and shifter) needs to come off. I removed all the visible screws, but it still seems to be held by something (clips?) at the area where these two trim plates overlap. Can anyone describe the removal process? (I have a manual tranny).

Thanks in advance.
Jim

Here's the second part you're looking for. You need to first take out the two rear screws on the pannel that goes around the shifter. The piece ends in the center console storage area. If you lift up the two front side corners of the fabric inside the storage box you'll see the 7mm screws.(either side of the change holder).
Then remove the screw under the cup holder. The piece will be somewhat free.
You then unplug the button by the change holder and the cigarette lighter and you will be able to rotate the piece on the shifter out of the way.

Next, remove the vent above the radio with a phillips. Then unscrew the 7mm screws on the panel surrounding the radio.

Last, the panel is held in by some clips. Be sure that you have all the screws out before pulling. I think it is 3 screws total(one top and two bottom. You can then remove the panel. If you have problems post again and I'll help out. I just had mine out today replacing a bulb.

I have no clue where the seatbelt chime is and come to think of it I bet mine's dead to. Personally, RIP Mr. Chime. I where a belt all the time anyway and I won't let any passengers in without one. First bump with the top down at 75 usually convinces the dumb ones. Maybe I can take mine out to lighen her up that much more.

I believe the Tone generator is located behind the DIC. I don't know if you can get to it if you remove the DIC. You may have to take the I/P pad off, but really can't say. I'll keep looking in
the book to see if I can find something.

On the '94 - '96 interior you also have to remove the console lid to get the center panel off as well...
