Datamaster says 'No PCM detected'
EDIT - IT'S OK - I FINALLY GOT COMMUNICATION!!!
I re-installed the driver, bent the pins so there was a good connection, fiddled around in win XP and everything suddenly worked - not sure what fixed my problem, will know more in a week or two.
I've deleted the rest of this post
