I was just wondering how well the cam does with no2. I plan on using a 75 or 100 dry shot. I was thinking of going with zex but im not set on a brand yet. Any suggestions would be appriciated.
Mods:
94 LT1 block with a 93 intake
vented opti spark (off of an 94+)
LT4 Hot Cam
1.6 Rockers / new springs
Headman Jeep Conversion headers
40 Series Flowmasters
ECU tune by Pcmforless.com
I talked to Alvin about doing this to mine as well. He suggested a chip or adapter he has that allows you to run 2 programs. 1 without nitrous and the other for nitrous. I believe it was controlled by a switch in the vehicle. My big concern is how much more abuse the stock bottom end of the motor can take.
You can just use a MSD or other ignition box that can take a input for NOS activation to retard the timing a few degrees when the NOS hits. He has a 94 and up PCM that is flashed and doesn't require a chip. A MSD Digital 6 box will work as will a Mallory 6 series or a Crane Hi-6 system. I tuned a RX7 equipped LT1 engine here in my area recently. It was a nice fit and ran very strong!
The 92 in my signature was an LT4 hotcam car. On a 100 HP shot of nitrous it gained 116 RWHP and 242 (!) RWTQ. I don't know exactly what made the engine respond so well to the nitrous, but you would be using the same cam I was.
Edit: I am currently using two separate programs that I can switch between in less than 10 minutes with the laptop. The one for the N20 has the timing retarded to reduce detonation and looses a few hp when not using nitrous. I was also told I could go the MSD ignition box route. I believe the new MSD optispark can change timing also but that is still a very new product.

Good luck!
wow thats incredible!
so all i would have to do is retard my timing right? Same ecu, no tuning, just an ignition amplifier?

are those mustang rims? man you have enough room in there for a big block. do you know what the car weighs? have you ran on the quarter? i totally dig the swap, what do the import guys say when you pop the ;hood?

Its actually getting to be a somewhat common swap which kinda makes me mad!!! They are 99 mustang wheels...nice eye. The cars weigh anywhere between 2900 (convertibles with swap) to 2500 lightned. Mine is around 2750-2800. Havent taken it to the track but it dynoed at 279hp and 304 ft/lbs when it was TOTALLY stock with no cam or exhuast or anything. I haven't had it dyno'd since.
Import guys look at me like im crazy but they all like it a lot. There are the stupid rotarty guys that are die hard fans that say you "take the soul out of the car by pulling the rotary" sorry i like to have power and reliability!
A lot of times i ride around with my roomate who has a 71 datsun with a built carbed 350 chevy. Our cars sound almost exactly the same.
You need to modify the subframe, use differnt motor mounts, as well as wiring and all that good stuff, its not a hard swap by any means. Two companies specialize in the swap. Grannys speed shop, and Hinson supercars. The ls1 into the newer model rx7 is a little more complicated of a swap but makes for an AMAZING car! Thats my next goal.
